Michael Stone specializes in working with individual and family investment portfolios, business owners, affluent households, retirement plans, trust accounts, foundations and endowments. He believes in the importance of providing his clients with a financial education so that together they can work toward specific financial goals.
After graduating from Colorado State University with a degree in geology, Michael started his career in the oil patch. While in this role, Michael learned first-hand that with a little financial discipline, by paying yourself first, and by understanding how the capital markets work, individuals can grow their wealth and ultimately have more choices in life. After the oil industry bust, Michael found himself helping his colleagues with their financial issues and questions, which led him to his present career that he finds interesting, challenging and always evolving.
Michael joined the DWM team in 2016 and has earned the designations of CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNERTM, Certified Specialist in Planned Giving and Chartered Life Underwriter. He has also completed the Chartered Financial Consultant program, and he is a member of the Partnership for Philanthropic Planning and the Colorado Planned Giving Roundtable.
Michael’s passion is working with children with special needs and cancer, often through ski instruction. For more than 20 years, he has volunteered with these individuals through the Children’s Hospital of Denver, the National Sports Center for the Disabled and the Shining Stars Foundation. Michael and his wife, Margaret, love the outdoors, nature, arts, travelling, skiing, hiking and spending time with family and friends.
